How to Succeed in a Temporary assignment
Assignments can range from a few days to a year, and some may even convert to permanent positions. Regardless of the length of the assignment or the type of work you’ll be doing, you will always want to present yourself as a hard worker and a valuable member of the team. Many Teammates make the mistake of hanging back and waiting for projects and tasks to come to them, or they get too comfortable way too fast.
Success as a Teammate:
Dress professionally- When Starting a new assignment, make sure to discuss dress code before your first day.
Be Patient- Try to be flexible, and work with what you have.
Come Prepared- Show up early on the first day. Take initiative when appropriate and be ready to jump into the assignment you are given.
Ask Questions- It’s great to be a self-starter, but if you are unsure, ask! Your supervisor would rather you check in than make mistakes. It also shows that you are open and willing to learn!
Engage- Demonstrate your reliability by coming in on time and working hard. See every project through. If you finish an assignment, check to see if there are additional ways you can help, even with tasks that are outside your “job description.”
Stay positive– It isn’t always easy being a temporary employee, but one thing is certain, having a positive attitude never goes unnoticed.
Having a great attitude is a great way to leave a lasting impression on a potential employer.
Do you need a direct deposit, but do not have a bank account?
Direct deposit provides a fast, convenient, and inexpensive way to receive your paycheck. You can stop rushing to the bank or paying expensive fees to cash your paycheck during your lunch hour on payday; funds are on your card by 9:00 am ET every payday with direct deposit. This is a tremendous benefit for all.
If you do not have a bank account, there is no need to worry! Global Cash Cards offer the benefits of direct deposit through a debit card that can be used at ATMs or in stores…even online. It’s a Visa debit card, so it can be used wherever Visa is accepted.
If you are not currently receiving your paycheck by direct deposit, let’s get you signed up! Contact your local branch for more information about everything you will need to get started!
Safety Zone
We all think you’re doing a “toe-rific” job
Feet support us, they bear our weight every day and take a great amount of stress and because of this they can be easily injured if not taken care of. An injured foot affects everything from your work and exercise routine to your basic mobility. At Onin, we care and want to prevent any type of accidents for our employees.
How to prevent foot injuries at work:
- Workers in heavy industrial settings should wear shoes that provide the right kind of protection.
- Those who stand for a long period of time should wear comfortable shoes that fit right.
- Look out for wet floors, bumps in carpeting, stray electrical cords, misplaced objects, or anything else that can cause injury.
- Properly guard machines such as chain saws, or rotary mowers to avoid cuts or severed feet.
- Using lighting to improve depth vision in complicated areas such as stairs, ramps and passageways.
- Practice good housekeeping. Keep the area free of clutter which can cause falls and foot injuries. Store tools and materials safely so they will not fall off work surfaces or shelves.
- Clean up spills promptly.
- Pay attention to what you are doing. Accidents causing foot injuries tend to happen when the worker is distracted or in a hurry.
- Do daily stretches before work and before you go to sleep to help increase your flexibility
- Pay attention to your posture. Keep your shoulders pulled back with your knees slightly bent while standing. This takes the weight of your vulnerable joints
- Switch your weight back and forth every few minutes to avoid putting too much pressure on one foot
- Treat your feet to a foot bath or massage!
